[Satellite TODAY 05-10-10] Eutelsat has signed a deal with HD service provider Euro1080 to bring more content to Eutelsat’s 3-D channel from the Eurobird 9A satellite, the operator announced May 7.
    Euro1080 and its TV production company, Alfacam, will provide 3-D production and recording of more than 100 hours of 3-D sports events and concerts as well as related technical resources. Alfacam, which initiated its 3-D strategy in 2007, has deployed a new broadcast mobile facility for recording live high-end 3-D sports events.
    “Technically, 3-D requires double camera sets, a lot more technical periphery and also different monitoring tools, both for directors and engineers. The results of this new effort are, however, amazing, and we are delighted to pursue this new adventure with Eutelsat,” Alfacam CEO Gabriel Fehervari said in a statement.
    Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
