[Satellite TODAY 04-28-10] Thuraya expects to sell 20,000 units of its Thuraya XT handheld phone in 2010, according to the company’s sales forecast, released April 26.
The MSS operator said it has already sold 8,000 units since the beginning of this year.
    Thuraya XT sales have been spread over several markets, including Libya, Afghanistan, Sudan, Iran and Saudi Arabia, in vertical sectors such as oil and gas, military, government, NGOs, broadcast media, large corporations, and maritime.
    Thuraya XT aims to provide data and GPS navigation services with download speeds of 60 kilobits per second, allowing users to connect to the Internet when connected to a laptop.
