[Satellite TODAY 04-16-10] Gilat Satellite Networks has signed a contract to provide a multi-million dollar broadband satellite communications network for an unnamed gaming and lottery project in Africa, the company announced April 14.
    The new will be deployed to an initial 2,500 sites in several countries in West Africa, including, the Ivory Coast, DRC and Senegal. Gilat said that subsequent contract phases would potentially increase the scope of the project to up to 10,000 sites and will include additional countries in the region.
    Gilat’s VSAT networks aim to upgrade the customer’s gaming network centrally to support additional online games and services as they are added.
    Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
