[Satellite TODAY 04-13-10] Sky Brasil has expanded its HDTV service in Latin America based on Harmonic’s Electra 8000 multi-channel universal encoder, Sky Brasil announced April 12.
    Sky Brasil launched its HDTV service in 2009 using Harmonic’s MPEG-4 AVC digital video delivery solutions, including the Electra 7000 encoder, ProStream 1000 stream processing platform with DiviTrackIP statistical multiplexing, and NMX Digital Service Manager. 
    The company said the expansion provides Sky with additional bandwidth efficiency. “Harmonic’s Electra 8000 compression platform solution offers excellent video quality and greater bandwidth efficiency for our new HD services,” Sky Brasil Director of Engineering Luis Otavio Marchezetti said in a statement.
