[Satellite TODAY 04-12-10] Vislink is set to unveil its NewSwift LT vehicle-mounted satellite antenna for the mid-range satellite uplink and satellite newsgathering market, the company announced April 9.
The antenna is equipped with a 1.2-meter aluminium reflector to achieve uplink. NewSwift LT uses the same mountings as the original NewSwift CF unit to attach to vehicles. The LT model also uses the same antenna controller.
Vislink said the antenna is intended for applications which require high-speed data connections at a lower cost, but which also require a higher quality reflector than standard VSAT antennas. The NewSwift LT also is designed for operation in Ku-band for broadcasts and mobile or temporary Internet applications worldwide.
“Providing an alternative to carbon fiber construction, VISLINK has been able to deliver a complementary antenna with the same finely crafted reflective surfaces, in aluminum, with a lower manufacturing cost and only a small trade off in weight,” Vislink Spokeswoman Ashley Dove said in a statement.
