[Satellite TODAY 03-16-10] Loral Space & Communications reported total 2009 year-end revenues at $993 million, a $124 million increase from its performance in 2008, the company announced in its fourth quarter 2009 financial results, released March 15.
Loral earned a net income of $232 million, compared to a net loss of $693 million in 2008. The company said its net income for 2009 benefited from changes in foreign exchange rates, principally related to Telesat debt, which contributed to Loral’s net losses in 2008, along with non-cash impairment charges at both Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) and Telesat.
Space Systems/Loral increased its EBITDA by 25 percent compared to 2008 and booked seven satellite orders.
