[Satellite TODAY 02-24-10] NDS has signed a contract with On Digital Media to provide a comprehensive set of services for its TopTV DTH platform in South Africa, the company announced Feb. 22.
    On Digital Media will secure NDS’ MPEG4 DVB-S2-based service using NDS’ VideoGuard Conditional Access (CA) technology. NDS MediaHighway set-top box software and an NDS developed EPG will also be implemented to enable the platform and provide the basis for future functionality.
    The TopTV platform aims to provide South Africans with a choice of satellite service providers, offering a basic package of approximately 30 channels. “We chose to partner with NDS as it offers the most secure encryption for pay-TV and a middleware roadmap that will allow us to introduce more advanced features including a DVR service in the future. The design and ease-of-use of NDS user interfaces was also a key factor in our decision,” On Digital Media CEO Vino Govender said in a statement.
