[Satellite TODAY 02-23-10] ATIS has entered into a partnership with the Video Services Forum (VSF) to define additional IP video performance metrics, the organizations announced Feb. 22.
The partnership aims to establish precise measurements for next-generation IP video services in order to quantify and benchmark user experiences and enable ongoing trials to improve service quality.
“The metrics developed as part of this joint work will not only enable test equipment vendors to provide a well-defined common set of [quality of experience] metrics, but they will also allow IPTV service providers to get a better understanding of possible quality issues with their video streams,” VSF President Derek Smith said in a statement.
The partnership is expected to generate its first performance metrics in 2010.
