[Satellite TODAY 02-08-10] Sirius XM Radio has unveiled a free application to access its programming on BlackBerry smartphones, the company announced Feb. 5.
    In order to access the service, application users must download the software and subscribe to either Sirius or XM Premium online. Sirius said that licensing issues have prevented talk show host Howard Stern, one of the company’s most valuable content assets, from being available via the BlackBerry application.
    Apple released a similar Sirius XM Radio application for its iPhone in 2009.
    Sirius XM Radio also announced that it added more than 257,000 net subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2009, bringing its total subscriber number to nearly 18.8 million subscribers.
