[Satellite TODAY 02-03-10] Vizada is launching its next-generation Universal Card for maritime crew communications, the company announced Feb. 2.
This prepaid service enables crewmembers to use voice, video and data services while at sea. The card also enables crewmembers to use their FleetBroadband Internet connection for instant messaging, e-mail and browsing. Costs are charged directly to the crew on a single reloadable card, reducing administration for the information technology and communications officer.
“This is an important step for crew communications as it gives personnel on board the freedom to completely manage their own communications budget,” Vizada CEO Erik Ceuppens said in a statement.
