[Satellite TODAY 01-13-10] OnAir signed an agreement with Afriqiyah Airways to install OnAir in-flight passenger connectivity services on the airline’s entire Airbus long-range and short-range fleets, OnAir announced Jan. 11.
OnAir initially will install its full connectivity suite — Mobile OnAir and Internet OnAir — on the airline’s A330 fleet. Mobile OnAir then will be installed on the Airline’s Airbus A320/A319 fleet.
The service is designed to provide passengers with the ability to use their own phones or BlackBerry-type devices to make and receive phone calls, send and receive emails and text messages, and access the Internet during flight.
“Offering in-flight connectivity is part of our ongoing drive to continuously improve our customer travel experience, while helping to differentiate us from the competition. With OnAir providing both GSM/GPRS as well as Wi-Fi Internet, our passengers will have the broadest range of in-flight connectivity options available anywhere in the world today,” Afriqiyah Airways CEO Rammah Ettir said in a statement.
