[Satellite TODAY 01-06-10] Lockheed Martin will cut as many as 1,200 jobs in its newly combined Maritime Systems and Sensors and Systems Integration division known as Mission Systems and Sensors (MS2), the company announced Jan. 6, in a statement.
According to Lockheed Martin, affected MS2 employees will be notified by early April. “We are making every effort to improve efficiencies that enable unparalleled service at the right price,” said Orlando Carvalho, Lockheed Martin’s President of Mission Systems and Sensors, in the statement.
The MS2 business, headquartered in Washington, D.C., aims to provide services to maritime forces. Lockheed Martin said that MS2 job cuts would not be confined to its headquarters and may affect its offices in Baltimore, Syracuse, N.Y.; Akron, Ohio, and others.
