[Satellite TODAY 11-19-09] DirecTV named Pepsi Co. CEO Michael White as its new president and CEO, replacing DirecTV interim CEO Larry Hunter effective Jan. 1, DirecTV announced Nov. 18.
White will retire from Pepsi at the end of the year and also joins DirecTV’s board of directors.
Before joining Pepsi as vice president of planning in 1990, White previously held executive positions at Frito-Lay North America, Frito-Lay International, Avon Products, Bain & Co. and Arthur Andersen & Co.
“After a very thorough search, we have found an exceptional leader with a sustained track record of success, profitably growing businesses and a reputation for making the impossible possible. Mike also brings the highest degree of leadership, innovation and passion to the table — all qualities that will help drive DirecTV’s performance in the coming years,” DirecTV Chairman John Malone said in a statement.
