[Satellite TODAY 10-26-09] BSkyB reported that it has 1.6 million households taking HD services in the United Kingdom and Ireland in its third quarter results, issued Oct. 23.
    The operator added near 287,000 new HD subscribers in the 2009 third quarter and has more than tripled the number of HD subscribers in the last 12 months, BSkyB said.
    Overall, the operator had 9.5 million subscribers at the end of September, adding nearly 95,000 subscribers in the third quarter.
BSkyB also has 2.3 million broadband customers as well as 2 million telephony customers. About 17 percent of BSkyB’s customers subscribe to a triple-play service (TV, telephony and broadband), the operator said.
