[Satellite TODAY 09-25-09] Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) signed a long-term, multiple transponder deal with Russian DTH provider GT Satellite Systems (GTSS) for expansion capacity on the ABS-2 satellite, which is scheduled to be launched in 2012, ABS announce Sept. 25.
    GTSS will use the capacity to expand its TV distribution services of its CATV channel and Raduga TV DTH platform.
    “We are currently providing GTSS with capacity on our Northern Ku-band beam on ABS-1. This agreement for additional capacity on ABS-2 is a testament to our close, long-term, strategic relationship with GTSS and our desire to support and work more closely with GTSS to successfully develop future opportunities in this key market,” ABS CEO Tom Choi said in a statement
    ABS-2 will be co-located with ABS-1 at 75 degrees East, providing service over the Eastern European region.
