[Satellite TODAY 09-23-09] Harris Corp. received an order from Meredith, owner of 12 TV stations in the United States, for the integrated Harris One solution, the manufacturer announced Sept. 22.
The solution, which will be installed at Meredith’s Atlanta central-casting hub, aims to establish a centralized, file-based broadcast structure, supporting a minimum of 12 HD streams, for the broadcaster’s Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, South Carolina, Michigan and Connecticut stations.
Meredith said it plans to implement a West Coast hub-and-spoke operation for three stations featuring Harris equipment.
Separately, Harris announced Sept. 22 that Sirius FM-5’s antenna reflector and onboard articulating boom, both provided by Harris, have been deployed.
Sirius FM-5, built by Space Systems/Loral and launched in June, houses the Harris antenna reflector on its S-band payload. The reflector features a Harris-patented, gold-plated mesh reflective surface coupled with a design that aims to maximize antenna gain and provide improved performance required for mobile, media services while reducing stowed volume and antenna mass.
