[Satellite TODAY 09-15-09] Virgin Media will partner with Bridge Technologies to roll out an all-IP broadcast installation at its 54 of Virgin Media’s headends and four core IP sites to complement its existing Video-on-Demand (VoD) IP infrastructure, Virgin Media announced Sept. 13.
    Bridge Technologies will provide its VideoBridge IP probes, servers, and software to ensure comprehensive continuous remote monitoring and fault analysis throughout Virgin Media’s broadcast TV IP infrastructure.
    “Many of the developments they have in the pipeline matched our requirements and the alarm monitoring tool also significantly added to what we were looking for,” said said Alistair Crook, head of TV operations for Virgin Media, in a statement.
    VideoBridge employs stream-based IP packets compatible with all major industrial standards such as MPEG-2, H.264/AVC, and DVB/ATSC – ETSI TR 101 290.
