Streambox is set to launch Streambox Live, an IP-based contribution service, the company announced.
The solution aims to enable remote and citizen reporters to upload compressed live video streams to broadcast studios through Internet-based Streambox Live data centers. The service will interoperate with Streambox’s platform of SD and HD broadcast-quality video encoders and decoders, as well as its complete line of broadcast and distribution servers.
Based on Streambox’s ACT-L3 technology, Streambox Live uses 512 Kbps video feeds for broadcast-quality SD video, supporting automated and ad hoc live video routing for playout on Streambox decoders and Streambox media players and includes free mobile encoding software for mobile phones and Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh computers.
All incoming live videos and archived videos contain thumbnail views and associated metadata for routing or downloading, with metadata support provided for slug, broadcast network, location, and reporter.
The company will be previewing the service at the IBC conference this weekend.
