[Satellite TODAY 09-02-09] Newtec is set to launch its 4CPM modulation and coding scheme, which aims to increase the speed and bandwidth efficiency of the return link of Newtec’s Sat3Play system, the company announced Sept. 1.
    4CPM, which Newtec said has been in development for three years, also could help the company hit new markets. It enables return rates of up to 1 megabit per second and higher, which makes the terminal attractive to both consumer and professional markets, the company said.
    The terminal was developed in cooperation with the French Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications and the Italian universities of Parma and Bologna. Newtec’s subsidiary TurboConcept in Brest, France, designed and implemented the core 4CPM algorithms.
