[Satellite TODAY 08-31-09] The Kudelski Group, a Swiss provider of media content protection and value-added service technology, is now in operations mode with its digital-TV conditional access service after delivering 25 million upgrade smartcards in 2008, the company announced in its 2009 first-half financial reports, released Aug. 28.
Kudelski said it is now recouping its service deployment investment as the smartcards deployed at Echostar and other major operators have started to yield the full monthly service fee.
The company’s revenues and operating income increased 7 percent to $429.9 million from its first-half results in 2008. Kuldeski said it reversed its loss from last year’s period by boosting its operating margin by $25.5 million. Net income for the first half of 2009 increased about $473,000.
Kudelski said it maintains a positive outlook for 2009 and is expected to further recover its 2008 losses in the second half of 2009 as its digital TV service grows.
