[Satellite TODAY 08-26-09] Harmonic has partnered with Falcon IP/Complete, an end-to-end MPEG-4 IPTV, to offer the Direct-2-Edge cable IPTV platform to cable providers, Harmonic announced Aug. 25.
    Harmonic’s Direct-2-Edge solution aims to deliver IP video services over an HFC access network directly to IPTV set-top boxes, personal computers or other IP devices.
    Harmonic said that by eliminating video stream routing through a CMTS, the company’s by-pass approach provides an estimated 70 percent infrastructure cost savings for cable and hybrid service providers.
