[Satellite TODAY 08-12-09] Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (SingTel) has selected Comtrend Corp.’s Power Grid 902 adapter, based on DS2‘s Aitana powerline communication chipset, to create a secure home network to deliver access to content and entertainment on SingTel’s IPTV service, Mio TV, SingTel announced Aug. 11.
DS2 supplies compatible circuits and chipsets designed for service provider IPTV applications, offering a maximum data transfer rate of 200 megabits per second and enabling SingTel the option to manage devices in the subscriber’s home network. The chipset also includes programmable quality of service to ensure that voice and video services get higher priority than data services to ensure maximum performance for all applications.
“DS2 technology optimizes performance to guarantee maximum data rate in high-density areas like Singapore. [The technology] will interoperate with our next generation DSS9960 chipset, which we are designing to comply with the emerging ITU G.hn standard,” Jorge Blasco, president and CEO of DS2, said in a statement.
Financial details of the order were not disclosed.
