[Satellite TODAY 08-04-09] GlobeCast has signed a deal with China Central Television (CCTV) to distribute CCTV’s newly-launched Arabic channel to the Middle East and North Africa via Arabsat’s BADR-6 satellite, GlobeCast announced Aug. 3.
    In addition to a satellite distribution solution, GlobeCast will provide CCTV with fiber backhaul, allowing the MENA regional channel to reach a potential DTH viewership of 200 million.
    CCTV Arabia, which broadcasts to 22 Arabic-speaking countries, features news reports in Arabic with some programs dubbed and subtitled. CCTV broadcasts four other international channels in English, French, Spanish and Chinese.
