[Satellite Today 07-28-09] Pace signed two separate contracts to supply high-definition (HD) set-top box and (direct-to-home) DTH technology to Sky Deutschland in Germany and Canal Digital in the Nordic region, Pace announced July 27.
Starting in August, Pace will support Sky Deutschland’s HD expansion plans across its territories. Sky, formerly Premiere, will acquire the DS830 set-top box from Pace. The unit supports both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4.
Canal Digital will receive Pace’s MultiDweller solution, which aims to enable DTH operators to target markets in urban centers. Canal Digital is the first commercial customer for the MultiDweller service since Pace unveiled the digital TV and broadband solution in 2005.
“Millions of people the world over live in multiple occupancy buildings, representing an enormous market opportunity for providers that find a way to overcome the technology barriers. The advent of MultiDweller is a hugely exciting step forward in the delivery of premium TV services to an untapped audience,” Pace CEO Neil Gaydon said in a statement.
