[Satellite Today 06-16-09] Thuraya signed a distribution agreement with Sharaf DG, one of the largest information technology and consumer electronics retailers in the United Arab Emirates, Thuraya announced June 14.

    Sharaf DG will distribute Thuraya’s SO-2510 and SG-2520 units as well as other Thuraya products such as its broadband solution, ThurayaIP, in Sharaf DG stores throughout the region. The partnership is intended to create wider availability of Thuraya products at regular consumer outlets, targeting customers in the United Arab Emirates, the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Middle Eastern region who need mobile satellite services.

    “Adding Thuraya to our portfolio of products enhances our leadership in the telecommunications solutions market. We anticipate increased demand for Thuraya products in light of the fact that customers can now purchase them in so many of our outlets,” Sharaf DG CEO Nilesh Khalkho, said in a statement.
