[Satellite Today 06-11-09] Marlink has acquired capacity on Telesat’s Telstar 11N satellite, Marlink announced June 9.
    The satellite, carried 39 Ku-band transponders to support a range of video and data applications in North America, Europe and Africa and across the Atlantic Ocean. Marlink will use the capacity to strengthen the quality of its WaveCall and Sealink VSAT solutions for maritime operators. The WaveCall coverage area will be extended into the North Atlantic Ocean.
    “We currently provide Sealink Ku-band services to a significant number of vessels operating in the North Sea that will now be able to take advantage of the increased coverage provided by the” satellite, Tore Morten Olsen, CEO of Marlink, said in a statement.
