[Satellite Today 06-11-09] International Launch Services (ILS) recevied a contract for two new firm launches and one optional launch for Intelsat, the launch provider announced June 10.
    Contract terms and mission assignments were not disclosed.
    “Selecting ILS Proton for additional launches was a logical extension for our business needs,” Ken Lee, Intelsat’s senior vice president, space systems, said in a statement. “ Intelsat depends on the reliability of an on-time, on-orbit launch for each of our satellites to expand our business and serve all of our customers.”
    In March, Intelsat awarded ILS a contract for the launch of Intelsat 16 in the 2009 fourth quarter.
