[Satellite Today 06-01-09] GlobeCast, in collaboration with Orange Labs, will deliver a live 3-D high-definition feed of a performance of Don Giovanni from the Rennes Opera house in Brittany via satellite to cinemas in Paris, the company announced May 29.
    The goal of the June 2 event , is to use the latest technology to bring Don Giovanni simultaneously to several screens across hundreds of miles in the highest possible -3D quality.
    The multi-camera operation, organized by Orange Labs and filmed by AMP, involves combining two video signals into one feed with the help of a Sensio 3D Cinema encoder. 
    The GlobeCast satellite newsgathering vehicle outside the opera house delivers the single feed to destinations throughout France: two cinemas in Paris as well as cinemas in Avignon and Brest.
