Telekom Austria TA launched a satellite global service package for international Internet service providers and government organizations, the company announced April 27.
    The service bundle has been created specifically to be deployed on the Telstar 11N satellite. Telekom Austria and Telestar have been in a partnership since 2004.
    The new service package includes space segment, a managed uplink service from the company’s Earth station and satellite hub in Aflenz, Styria, as well as direct connections to Telekom Austria’s teritrestrial broadband backbone network, JetStream.
    The satellite-based services and applications are supported by iDirect platforms, DVB-S and DVB-S2 technologies for data transmission and Internet connectivity, standard- and high-definition TV broadcasting as well as single channel per carrier for Internet trunking.
