[Satellite Today 04-17-09] Tandberg Television signed a deal with one of Asia’s main voice and satellite service providers, Reach, to expand its high-definition (HD) satellite capabilities with Tandberg receivers, encoding, multiplexing and modulation solutions, Tandberg announced April 15.
Reach said the deal enables the company to provide video contribution circuits for TV networks and pay-TV operators covering standard-definition, HD and DVB-S2 capabilities and will use the equipment at commercial teleports in Hong Kong and at satellite earth stations in Sydney and Perth.
“Reach is now focused on being the premier video services provider in Southeast Asia. We needed market leading video quality, very high reliability and local support. Tandberg Television met these requirements. We have a complete contribution system that can interface to any telco or satellite standard including ATM, IP, DVB-S2, and an operationally simple control system,” Richard Ward, manager of satellite engineering at Reach, said in a statement.
