[Satellite Today 04-15-09] SatLink Communications signed a deal with SES Astra to acquire capacity on SES Astra’s Astra 4A (Sirius 4) satellite, SatLink announced April 14.
    Astra 4A, located at 5 degrees East, will host SatLink’s new multi-channel per carrier  broadcasting platform, which aims to reach sub-Saharan African customers with free-to-air and encrypted DTH channels uplinked from Europe and downlinked to dishes as small as 90 centimeters.
    “Our latest platform for Africa is a long awaited addition and strategically expands our total global content distribution experience. Africa is a fast-growing market and SatLink’s geographic location linking Europe, Africa and Asia makes our new platform ideal for broadcasters extending services or tapping into the African market,” SatLink CEO David Hochner saidin a statement.
