[Satellite Today 04-13-09] Harris Corp. released new enhancements to its Nexio family of video servers, the company announced April 8.
    The enhancements include direct file importing of both GXF (SMPTE 360M) and Avid MediaStream MPEG files. These capabilities, coupled with the Nexio server’s ability to accommodate multiple software codecs, aim to streamline the broadcast workflow by eliminating the cost, latency and quality concerns of file transcoding. 
    “Direct file import with Nexio servers enables broadcasters to handle this content without the need to return it to baseband video at any point in the workflow. This strategy allows broadcasters to import original files from various devices for immediate playback at their original quality and without any generation loss,” said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications, in a statement.
