[Satellite Today 04-08-09] Half of U.K. television households are using pay-TV service, according to the Digital Progress Report released by Ofcom April 6.
According to the report, 49.5 percent of households either had a pay-satellite or cable service on their main TV set by the end of 2008. The report also claims that BSkyB is the leading pay-TV operator in the market with more than 9 million subscribers.
In total, Ofcom said 88.8 percent of households in the United Kingdom had a digital TV service connected to their main set at the end of 2008, up by 2.4 percent since the end of 2007. Households with access to a high-definition service rose to an a-time high of more than 1.5 million.
