[Satellite Today 02-17-09] Premiere posted a net loss 269.4 million euros ($346.6 million) in 2008, the company announced Feb. 16. The German pay-TV operator has seen its losses increase dramatically in 12 months. In 2007, it had net losses of 51.6 million euros ($66.4 million).
The results also showed subscriber falls, revenues falls and increases in overall losses. At the end of December, the operator had just under 2.4 million direct subscribers. At the end of 2007, this figure had been more than 2.5 million subscribers.
The company said it expects very little subscriber growth in the first part of the year, although its hopes a relaunch and marketing initiatives will lead to subscriber growth in the second half of the year. Premiere targets to be net income and cash flow positive by 2011.
