[Satellite Today 01-07-08] Emerging Markets Communications (EMC) signed Yahsat and Arabsat capacity contracts totaling $200 million, EMC announced Jan. 6.
Based on long-term agreements, EMC will lease C-band capacity on both satellite fleets, adding it to its contracts with Intelsat, Telesat, Gascom and other customers.
“It is no secret that getting satellite capacity is one of the major challenges the industry is facing for the years to come,” Abel Avellan, president of EMC, said in a statement. “These agreements allow EMC to keep providing its customers with a full range of options, now assuring over 1000 megahertz in capacity for their networks and neutrality.”
