[Satellite Today 12-17-08] Tata Sky has more than 3 million DTH subscribers in India, the company announced Dec. 16.
    Tata Sky reached the milestone in 27 months, adding the latest 1 million subscribers in the last seven months. 
    Separately, Bharti Airtel has selected integrated satellite set-top box system-on-a-chip solutions from Broadcom to power Bharti Airtel’s direct-to-home TV services, Airtel digital TV, Bharti Airtel announced Dec. 16.
    Bharti Airtel will use Broadcom’s BCM7454 standard-definition satellite seet-top box solution with integrated H.264, MPEG-4 and VC-1 video decoding as well as the Broadcom BCM4505 integrated satellite tuner and demodulator front-end solution. This marks Broadcom’s first commercial satellite product launch in India.
