[Satellite Today 12-02-08] SNG Broadcast Services has chosen Genesis Networks to provide global connectivity for customers of SNG’s live transmission services from London, SNG Broadcast announced Dec. 2.
Via the SNG Broadcast service, Genesis Networks’ fiber-satellite infrastructure enables international broadcasters to transmit live news feeds from several of London’s famous landmarks to newsrooms anywhere in the world.
In addition, SNG Broadcast is offering live mobile camera capabilities via a COFDM wireless link, which enables signals to be delivered from any major location from within central London. Each location is connected to a central hub from which the video and audio signals are handed off to the Genesis Networks’ point of presence in London for delivery to media hubs throughout the world.
Through the Genesis service, SNG Broadcast said broadcasters would have connectivity to its fixed earth station services, which provide uplink, downlink, turnaround and playout/record services. Broadcasters with on-location satellite uplink trucks will be able to access mobile uplink signals via Genesis from the SNG hub.
