[Satellite Today 10-31-08] BSkyB has now gone through the 9 million mark for subscribers, the company announced Oct. 31
    BSkyB added nearly 90,000 net new subscribers in the 2008 third quarter, which closed at the end of September. The operator also is seeing strong growth in take-up of high-definition (HD) services and now has nearly 600,000 subscribers taking HD services.
    BSkyB now has 1.8 million broadband customers, adding 164,000 subscribers in the quarter. About 20 percent of BSkyB’s subscriber base take broadband services through the operator, BSkyB said..
    The company also saw a 21 percent increase in operating profit compared to the 2007 third quarter.
