[Satellite Today 10-17-08] International Datacasting Corp. (IDC) received an order from SSI Micro, a Canadian regional Internet service provider, for receivers to upgrade satellite-delivered high speed Internet service to remote communities across Northern Canada, IDC announced Oct. 17.
    SSI Micro is upgrading its network to include DVB-S2 technology by purchasing IDC’s SFX3101 DVB-S2 satellite receiver with advanced 8PSK modulation.
    "IDC’s Satellite Receivers will enhance the quality of service that our customers experience, as well as provide a 3 percent to 7 percent gain in satellite efficiency. … This upgrade will allow our customers to enjoy improved performance when using bandwidth hungry applications such as YouTube, online gaming and other rich video content," Jeff Philipp, president of SSI Micro, said in a statement.
