[Satellite Today 10-16-08] Pace CEO Neil Gaydon expects the company’s standard-definition (SD) set-top box business to decline as more pay-TV operators move to high definition (HD), personal video recorders and all-encompassing home networking solutions.
“With the future pricing models for MPEG-4 and HD boxes, I expect most of the major operators will move away from SD set-top box deals over the next 12 to 18 months,” Gaydon told Satellite Today. “The shift to HD [personal video recorders] will continue, with more opportunities to move into converged home type solutions, which we are very positioned for.”
