[Satellite Today 10-08-08] The Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), Australia’s multicultural and multilingual public broadcaster, has selected Tandberg Television’s Internet protocol-based iSIS 8000 headend architecture for its digital terrestrial television network, Tandberg announced Oct. 8.
Tandberg is supplying standard-definition and high-definition television encoders, dense multiplexing, and embedded single frequency network adaptation, all based around its core of IP switching.
The centralized head-end will generate DVB-T transport streams for 12 separate regions in Australia — a first deployment of headend architecture in that regional market for Tandberg.
