[Satellite Today 09-22-08] International Launch Services launched the Nimiq 4 satellite for Telesat, the companies announced Sept. 22.
The satellite, which will be located at 82 degrees West, is equipped with 32 active Ku-band and eight Ka-band transponders. Nimiq 4 is fully leased to Bell TV, which will use the capacity to expand its digital satellite television services over Canada by offering HDTV, specialty channels and foreign-language programming.
"Nimiq 4 will contribute significant revenue and EBITDA to our financial results and build on our longstanding relationship with Bell TV,” Dan Goldberg, president and CEO of Telesat, said.

Goldberg spoke with Satellite News on Sept. 10 about the potential for Nimiq 4 and how Telesat dealt with the satellite’s launch delay.
