[Satellite Today – 07-10-08] SES Americom and SES New Skies will be combined into a single operating segment, parent company SES announced July 10. Robert Bednarek, president and CEO of SES New Skies, will serve as president and CEO of the new segment.
“By creating this new segment and combining the experienced management teams of SES Americom and SES New Skies, SES will improve its overall operating performance while strengthening its competitiveness and better positioning the company for future growth,” Romain Bausch, president and CEO of SES, said in a statement. “In addition to the synergies that can be expected, the new segment will be able to approach its markets with an increased level of focus and flexibility while leveraging the power of SES’ global fleet to benefit its current and future customers.”
SES does not see any major changes to the current business operations and market activities of the two satellite operators, SES said. The operations of the respective satellite fleets will remain separate, and the new segment will continue to be supported from current locations and facilities.
Ed Horowitz resigned as president and CEO of SES Americom in May.
