[Satellite Today – 4-28-08] Iridium Satellite LLC had a “record setting” 2008 first quarter, the company announced April 28.
Revenue in the first quarter was $74.3 million, a 41 percent increase over 2007’s $52.7 million. As of March 31, Iridium surpassed 250,000 subscribers around the globe, a 37 percent increase over the 183,000 subscribers recorded at the end of the 2007 first quarter.
“Iridium posted another record quarter with across-the-board growth in profits, revenue and subscribers in all the regions and vertical markets served,” Matt Desch, Iridium chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “This growth further solidifies our position as the fastest-growing, and second largest, mobile satellite services company in the world.”
Iridium, a privately owned company, does not release profit numbers.
