[Satellite Today – 4-14-08] The State University of New York (SUNY) has renewed its multi-year contract with SES Americom, SES Americom announced April 14.
SUNY has been using SES Americom’s AMC-5 satellite to provide its SUNYSAT network, which is used to deliver the university’s New York Network and distance learning applications to campuses throughout New York State, as well as state and government agencies and the media nationwide. SUNYSAT has connected SUNY’s 64 campuses since 1988, and today reaches more than 300 dedicated receive sites across the state.
“SES Americom has played a key role in helping us grow the use and popularity of SUNYSAT, and in particular our New York Network,” said Roy T. Saplin, Jr, director of administration for SUNYSAT in a statement. “The reliability and performance of AMC-5, coupled with the terrific service and support we’ve received from SES Americom over the years, made the decision to renew our contract an easy one.”
