[Satellite Today – 2-20-08] Astrium Services has opened its teleport in Toulouse, France, adding a satellite infrastructure network in France to existing networks in the United Kingdom and Germany, the company announced Feb. 20.
    The dedicated unit in Toulouse will develop and market teleport services and associated network solutions to government and commercial customers interested in capabilities such as Voice Over Internet Protocol, telephony services, Internet access, company intranet and networks and secured virtual private networks.
    The first customer is Economat des Armées, the French Ministry of Defence‘s joint logistics and supply agency. Astrium will provide the Passerel telecommunications services for troops deployed overseas.
