[Satellite Today – 2-12-08] Hughes Network Systems LLC signed a contract with Russian broadband provider IPNet to implement a new HX system teleport in Moscow, Hughes announced Feb. 12.
"With scarce satellite capacity in Russia as in many regions of the world, the Hughes system … brings additional capacity where it was not previously available, giving operators the ability to maximize the efficiency of bandwidth utilization and contain costs as they grow their businesses,”. Arunas Slekys, vice president and general manager for Hughes’ Russia/CIS business, said in a statement.
Separately, C-Com Satellite Systems Inc. has delivered a shipment of iNetVu mobile antennas to Hughes, Hughes announced Feb. 12. Hughes will use the antennas to provide HughesNet broadband satellite service to a major oil and gas services company.
