[12-07-07 – Satellite Today] In sweeping management changes for U.K. pay-TV operator BskyB, Rupert Murdoch has left the board of directors, his son James has resigned as CEO and Jeremy Darroch, previously Sky’s CFO has been named CEO, the company announced Dec. 7.
After serving as BSkyB’s CEO for four years, James Murdoch will take a new executive position at News Corp. but also has been appointed as non-executive chairman of BSkyB.
Darroch has been with BSkyB since 2004 and is the first CEO of BSkyB to be appointed from within the company. BSkyB is also searching for a new CFO.
Separately, Toru Mizoguchi has been named chairman and CEO of JSAT International the company announced Dec. 7.
Mizoguchi previously served as JSAT’s general manager, global business development division. In other changes, the operator said that Kazuo Tomimura would replace Mizoguchi as the general manager of JSAT’s global business development division. Tominura had previously been deputy manager of this division.
In other recent JSAT news, the operator announced it has launched its ‘Sky-Access Video’, a new satellite-based video transmission service at the beginning of this month.
