[12-06-07 – Satellite Today] Intelsat Ltd. and On Call Communications are donating emergency communications to help coordinate efforts to combat the recent wildfires in Southern California as well as aid relief efforts, Intelsat announced Dec. 6.
    Intelsat and On Call, in coordination with AT&T, have donated satellite terminals, satellite bandwidth, engineering personnel and logistical support for command operations and victim relief centers.
    “The quick response of On Call Communications and the ability to provide continuous 24-hour support was crucial in maintaining optimal communications for our recent Santiago Fire,” Scott Johnson, information technology analyst for the Orange County Fire Authority, said in a statement. The organization used QuickSpot terminals and Intelsat OnDemand bandwidth for fire mapping and logistical coordination.
