Full operations began Nov. 17, and following a controlled rollout with NGA, DigitalGlobe will begin taking orders from resellers, partners and customers Jan. 3. The spacecraft will be able to collect up to 750,000 square kilometers per day of half-meter imagery.
The satellite, built by Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corp. with the imaging sensor provided by ITT Corp., was partially financed by the NGA’s NextView program. Ball and ITT are expected to complete WorldView-2 in late 2008.
